In Spring and Summer, the Mountains come to life with fragrant blooms and lush green foliage. Temperatures are moderate year-round, allowing many types of outdoor recreation.
Enjoy the explosion of Fall colors in October. Fall is apple time in the area...Ellijay is "The Apple Capital of Georgia" and is the home of Apple Alley. There you will see apple orchards and farm stands where you can enjoy the freshest apples, cider and treats.
In Winter, you may experience light dustings of snow. Although the snow will not last very long, you will be treated to a sparkling winter wonderland, even if only for a short while. The Christmas Express Train runs from November 25 through December 20. Cloudmont is the southernmost ski area in the U.S., and is open daily and nightly during season when temperatures at night drop to 28 degrees to make snow.
